What is the Flathead Lacrosse Club?

The Flathead Lacrosse Club is dedicated to providing an opportunity for local boys and girls to participate in the growing sport of lacrosse.  The Flathead Lacrosse Club encourages players to continue playing at the college level by promoting academic success in middle and high school.  We support a positive, healthy lifestyle and alternative athletic opportunity for Flathead Valley teens. The Flathead Lacrosse Club teaches players to abide by the US Lacrosse Code of Ethics.

What equipment do you need?

During our spring season all players will need a boys lacrosse stick, helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads,  cleats (soccer or football cleats work), mouth piece, and athletic supporter with a cup.  We have a limited supply of team equipment for new players but we do not have helmets available.  Each player will need their own helmet to play.

  • Lacrosse Helmet
  • Mouth Piece
  • Lacrosse Gloves
  • Arm Guards
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Boy’s or Mens Lacrosse Stick (Women’s sticks are very different and cannot be used for Boys lacrosse)
  • Cleats (soccer or football cleats work- no metal cleats)
  • Athletic Supporter with a Cup

  • Lacrosse Helmet (NOCSAE Specifications Highly Recommended)
  • Colored mouth-piece with strap (No clear mouth-pieces allowed)

When is the season?

The season is in the spring, starting April 3rd until early June 2012. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and games will be on Saturdays. Last year the team played seven games on three saturdays in May at jamboree style events. Away games will be one day trips to minimize hotel stays and keep costs low. The team will carpool to these single day events in Missoula and Sandpoint, Idaho.

Where will we play?

In the early spring we may need to seek indoor practice facility times if the fields are too wet for play. We may be able to play in the Sumptown Ice Den or in the Whitefish Armory. Once the fields are ready we will practice at Grouse Mountain Fields ( Girls, high school, U-15 and U-13) or Smith Fields (U-11). 

Games will be played at  home at Grouse Mountain Fields while away games can take place in Missoula, Sandpoint, Polson, Browning, Arlee, or Bozeman. 

Who will we play?

The Flathead Lacrosse Club will play teams in Missoula and also the Sandpoint area of North Idaho. Games will be scheduled in a tournament style event, with multiple games played during a day trip. The team will travel by carpool on the day of the game and return on the same day. As the Flathead Lacrosse Club grows we hope to split into teams based in Whitefish, Columbia Falls, and Kalispell.
