                        More about Boys Lacrosse

The Flathead Lacrosse boys program will begin it's third official season. This year we will operate under the direction of the newest chapter of US Lacrosse, the Montana Lacrosse. This year Montana Lacrosse has adopted the age standards set by US Lacrosse. Also, there is now a small group of trained referees that will officiate the games and our coaches will be US Lacrosse Certified Level 1 coaches. These advancements will take the Flathead Lacrosse Club and all lacrosse in Montana to a new level of play.

The players of the Flathead Lacrosse Club will be coached according to the standards set by the US Lacrosse Foundation. Our players will demonstrate the ideals of lacrosse both on and off the field. Players will follow the US Lacrosse code of ethics, learn the rules of the game and play with respect, fairness, teamwork and communication.

Our boys program will have four teams in 2012. These teams are high school, U-15, U-13, and U-11. Each team will have two coaches that are certified Level 1 coaches. The age brackets are set by US Lacrosse and will allow traveling teams to play against comparable opponents. We anticipate over 100 boys to join our programs this spring!

Our practices will be held two two three days a week at Grouse Mountain Fields in Whitefish starting in late March or early April. Games will be on weekends with the possibility of afternoon or Friday night games against new teams from Browning, Polson, and/or Arlee.

US Lacrosse Rules Changes for 2012

Visit the link here to read about rule changes for 2012.

Feel free to print these rules to understand how the game will be officiated in 2012. Each player should read, understand, and play by the rules of the game.

When you register for a US Lacrosse membership you can purchase a rule book. It is advisable to learn the rules of the game on your own time.

                        Concussion Information

The rules of lacrosse are devised to keep all players safe while playing. Reducing the possibility of concussions has become a point of emphasis in the past few seasons. It is important to be informed about  concussions and the dangers of continuing to play with a concussion.

This season our coaches will be trained to examine players for signs of concussions. Players that experience any "big hits" in games or practice will be examined before they can return to play. This will keep our players safe from further injury.
