                        A sport of tradition...

Womens lacrosse is known as a more traditional style of lacrosse that is closely related to the Creators Game than the modern game of mens lacrosse.

The girls play with a stick that is much different than the boys stick. It has a shallower pocket and requires a different motion to cradle the ball. A completely different set of rules make the women's game a unique sport.

If you are a girl and plan to play this spring you should purchase your own stick, eye guard, and balls. There are girls lacrosse packages at most online retailers. Pick up a stick and learn to play.

Equipment required to play girls lacrosse:
                        • Girls lacrosse stick
                        • Protective eyewear
                        • Mouth piece (colored- not clear)
                        • Cleats

Equipment Packages are the most cost effective way to get all the equipment you need:
                        • Lax.com $79
                        • Girls Lacrosse Gear.com$56-$109
                        • Comlax.com $99

Our team colors are Navy and White, if you have an option order these colors.

Our first Girls Program for Flathead Lacrosse

In the past many girls have played the boys game for the Flathead Lacrosse Club. In the spring of 2012 we will begin the first girls program to teach the womens game of lacrosse.

This will be an introductory year to help generate interest and build fundamental skills and friendships. The season will be spent learning the game, developing fundamental skills, and recruiting more players.

The girls program will be mostly practice and some games may be scheduled for the end of the season state tournament in Missoula. Girls in 6th-12th grade are encouraged to play. We will develop our program to accommodate all players as interest and support grows.

                        Picture
Erin Grieco has recently stepped up to the charge of starting the Flathead Lacrosse Girls program. Our ladies have long been waiting for someone who knows the game well enough to coach the women's game of lacrosse.

Erin has played lacrosse for twelve years in Pennsylvania. Erin started playing competitively in the fifth grade and played all four years at Penncrest High School in Media, PA.  She continued to play  in college at the NCAA DII level for West Chester University, leading her team to three NCAA championship games.

Since Erin is a true lacrosse player she has decided to give back to the sport by coaching.  She coached for one year in PA and spent another year coaching and starting the Sheldon High School girls program in Oregon.

We welcome Erin to the Flathead Lacrosse program and hope more womens coaches will rise to the occasion.

She looks forward to picking up a stick again and will be proud to coach the first girls team for the Flathead Lacrosse Club.
